The Modesto Design Collective (MO.DE) is excited to collaborate with The Graphic Artists Guild to offer this MADWEEK Crash Course introducing designers to the latest version (15th edition) of the The Graphic Artists Guild Handbook: Pricing & Ethical Guidelines. Former National President of The Graphic Artists Guild, Haydn Adams,* will provide an overview of the contents of the Handbook, sharing highlights, best practices, and methods for use.

The Handbook is the newest edition of the comprehensive reference guide for graphic artists and designers—helping them navigate the world of pricing, collecting payment for, and protecting their creative work, as well as growing their freelance business to create a sustainable and rewarding livelihood. The Graphic Artists Guild Handbook: Pricing & Ethical Guidelines is the industry bible for communication design and illustration professionals. The Handbook provides up-to-date guidance and advice, incorporating new information, listings, and pricing guidelines. The session will highlight practical tips for designers on how to negotiate the best deals, price their services accurately, and create contracts that protect their rights (it includes sample contracts and other documents).

This session will be especially useful for freelance graphic artists, designers and illustration professionals. 

The button collection of acclaimed New York fashion designer and author Hazel Doten are on permanent display on the lower level of the McHenry Museum in Modesto.

*About the Facilitator: Haydn Adams is the Owner of Nautilus Designs, an Interactive Design, Web Design & Identity Design studio for small business and highly motivated individuals. He is the former department director of the mobile web department and taught in both the Web Design & Illustration departments at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He was also the National President of The Graphic Artist Guild from 2010-2016.
